The U.S. Embassy, in Gaborone is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the following position:
Supervisory Information Management Specialist; FSN-10;
Gaborone-2023-032 (P428,441 Starting salary per year + benefits) based in Gaborone.
Duties:
The Information Technology Manager works under the supervision of the Deputy Country Director and is responsible for Information Technology (IT) services management and support oversight. Job holder leads the development and implementation of IT related activities, projects and has direct responsibility for day-to-day coordination of IT services management and support oversight at the CDC-Botswana Offices. Incumbent provides advice and guidance on IT management and support services and develop plans for the maintenance and replacement of IT software and equipment as technology advances. Responsible for the integrity and security of all IT equipment, software, and data systems.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Information Systems or Management Information System required.
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:
Five years’ experience progressively responsible for current Local Area (LAN), systems operations, latest release Microsoft products, modern Information Technology (IT) hardware, communication components. Six months managerial/supervisory experience is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Incumbent must have advanced specialist knowledge in IT administration and software including MS Windows Server management, MS Exchange, and MS Windows network configuration, network security skills, Microsoft Office productivity software, and current MS Windows operating systems. Knowledge about Cisco network infrastructure (ASA, router, and switch).
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE:
• Level IV English (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing is required.
• Level III Setswana (Good working Knowledge) written and spoken is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Incumbent must be able to work independently to systematically and methodically assess advanced/highly complex IT problems and issues, and develop realistic solutions related to software, hardware, or IT networks. Priority scheduling of work to maximize operational efficiency of the office IT systems. Strong leadership and ability to supervise staff to achieve optimal results. Good oral communication skills. “This may be tested.”
