Morupule Coal Mine (MCM) is a mining company established in 1973 to mine and unlock true value of coal for all stakeholders. The MCM business is at the heart of a prosperous future for Botswana with coal production contributing significantly to the economic development of Botswana. The Mine is owned by the Minerals Development Company Botswana (MDCB) amining investment entity of the Government of Botswana.
Morupule Coal Mine is located 7 km northwest of the urbanized village of Palapye (the fastest growing center outside the capital city of Gaborone), along the Serowe-Palapye national highway (A14).

Job Summary

To support the Head of Strategy and Projects in managing the strategy implementation, transformation

and innovation journey to ensure MCM achieves its medium and long-term strategic intents. The role includes managing transformation initiatives and organizational change efforts of varying size and complexity as well as business performance, business improvement and integrated business planning.

 

Key Effectiveness Areas

  • Leading and managing large scale and complex change / transformation projects with the full understanding of risks and success factors.
  • Managing and reporting on the MCM Business improvement and operational excellence.
  • Building relationships to lock in savings and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Portfolio, strategy management and reporting priorities, maintain, and manage the strategy initiatives across the Mine.
  • Maintain and continuously improve reporting on the strategy and transformation progress, working closely together with the EXCO, Strategy Champions.
  • Business scorecard integration and performance management.
  • Drives business process re-engineering to reposition key functions within the organisation to unlock new value and support the business efficiently and effectively.
  • Utilises change management, coaching tools, and methodologies to support the strategy, and business improvement initiatives being implemented.
  • Provides the framework for application of knowledge management principles to ensure effective knowledge capture, exchange, and adaptation.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering or Commercial/Social Sciences/Business, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8 years post graduate experience in strategy, change and business improvement environment with 3 years at management level.
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Strategic Management or equivalent would be an added advantage.
  • Business improvement related certification would be an added advantage.
  • Leadership or Management Development Program would be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated record of development and implementation of strategic plans, business improvement and managing scale change / transformation projects.
