Strategy Analyst – Botswana Power Corporation

Main purpose of the position

To undertake Organizational Business Model Analytics, Financial & Business Modelling and Forecasting, Sector Based Performance Analysis, Market Intelligence Gathering Analysis (Global and National) and Corporation Level Analysis to enable transformation of the Corporation to a desired future state.

Job Responsibilities

• Tracks budgets and brings variances to the attention of senior colleagues while working within established budgeting systems.
• Monitors, evaluates, and reports financial progress and impact of strategic projects on business
• Prepares and presents reports from time to time for the Strategy Management coordinator and support presentations to stakeholders (e.g., BPC Management and Staff) as necessary
• Periodically reports on the impact of Strategic interventions, sector performance, regional and global environment.
• Provides operational insights to achieve key performance indicators
• Implements change management communication plan
• Coordinates assigned change management projects and initiatives with change activities across the Corporation to ensure alignment and efficiency in implementation.
• Improves corporate wide performance and coaches others when required, using performance management systems and protocols.
• Carries out Sector Based Performance Analysis, and Corporation Level Analysis to transform the Corporation.
• Undertakes Financial & Business Modelling and Forecasting.
• Conducts Organizational Business Model Analytics to inform transformations and business improvement.
• Researches, solicits, retains, schedules, and coordinates departmental Plans
• Carries out market intelligence, gathering and analysis (national and global) to leverage on the competitive advantages of the organization.
• Benchmark and assess power utility management practices & processes locally and regionally & recommend best practices to Management.
• Critically analyse information to draw sound conclusions from information and various data sources at their disposal.
• Conducts organizational business model analysis to provide guidance on positioning of the organization in line with market shifts and dynamics.
• Collects and analyzes a variety of complex data and information. In collaboration with others, performs statistical analysis and summarizes findings in applicable reports or other communication mediums.
• Undertakes research on identified areas of interest to the Corporation to inform strategic decision making.
• Inform and prepare policy advocacy and development papers which have a bearing on the strategic course and aspirations of the Corporation.

Qualifications

• A minimum Bachelors Degree in Commerce, Business Management or equivalent
• Professional Qualification/Certification in Financial Modelling and Analysis, Business Modelling/ Analysis or CIMA is an added advantage

Experience

• Minimum 5 years professional experience
• Experience in the field of Strategic Management, Business Model Development, Research, Analysis and Programme Management is essential.
