Specialist: Data Analytics and Business Intelligence
Okavango Diamond Company (ODC) is a premier rough diamond marketing company, offering global customers open access to a large-scale supply of rough diamonds sourced from Botswana. As the principal supplier in the sector, ODC represents the largest guaranteed source of Botswana’s diamond production within the industry. Currently undergoing an exciting transformation, ODC is seeking a dedicated, self-driven individual to join its dynamic team as Specialist: Data Analytics and Business Intelligence.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Senior Manager: Strategy and PMO, the Specialist: Data Analytics and Business Intelligence will play a critical role in strengthening data-driven decision-making at ODC. The role is pivotal in transforming complex data into actionable insights that support strategy execution, operational efficiency, market competitiveness and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement data analytics and business intelligence strategies aligned to ODC’s corporate objectives.
- Analyse internal and external data to generate insights that inform strategic, operational, sales, marketing and pricing decisions.
- Design and maintain dashboards, reports and visualisations to support executive and management decision-making.
- Utilise advanced analytics, statistical techniques and predictive modelling to improve forecasting, performance and revenue outcomes.
- Provide market, customer and competitor intelligence to support strategic planning and positioning.
- Strengthen data governance, knowledge management and information sharing across the organisation.
- Deliver internal advisory support to optimise processes, improve efficiency and align departments to strategy.
- Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enable informed, data-driven decisions.
- Lead and develop team capability while promoting innovation, compliance and a high-performance culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, Economics, Quantitative Mathematics, Information Technology or related field.
- Minimum of 6 years’ relevant experience, including at least 3 years at a supervisory level in data analytics and business intelligence.
- Strong proficiency in BI and analytics tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python or R).
- Solid understanding of data management, data governance, statistical analysis and predictive modelling.
- Experience in translating data into clear business insights for senior stakeholders.
- Knowledge of market analysis, KPIs and strategic planning processes (experience in the diamond or commodities sector is an added advantage).
