SENIOR TECHNICIAN / CONSTRUCTION TECHNICIAN
Diploma or the equivalent is required with more than 10 years experience.

Overview

The Senior Technician / Construction Technician is a skilled technical professional responsible for providing support and expertise in the execution of construction projects. This role involves performing a wide range of tasks, including field inspections, material testing, quality assurance, and data analysis to ensure the successful completion of construction work.

Responsibilities

– Conduct on-site inspections and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes, and safety standards
– Perform a variety of material tests, such as soil analysis, concrete testing, and asphalt testing, to verify the quality and integrity of construction materials
– Collect and analyze field data, including measurements, test results, and documentation, to identify any issues or deviations from the project requirements
– Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and construction personnel to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents
– Assist in the development and implementation of quality control and assurance plans to maintain high standards of workmanship and project deliverables
– Prepare comprehensive reports, documentation, and recommendations based on field observations, test results, and data analysis
– Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, apprentices, and other members of the construction team
– Stay up-to-date with the latest construction methods, materials, equipment, and industry regulations to ensure the team’s knowledge and practices remain current
– Participate in pre-construction meetings, site visits, and progress meetings to communicate findings, address concerns, and contribute to problem-solving
– Coordinate with relevant authorities, such as building inspectors and regulatory agencies, to facilitate the necessary approvals and inspections
– Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, ensuring that all construction activities are conducted in accordance with established health and safety protocols

Qualifications

– Associate’s degree or technical diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field
– Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Construction Technician, Field Inspector, or in a similar technical role within the construction industry
– Proficient in the use of testing equipment, surveying instruments, and data analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, specialized construction management tools)
– Thorough understanding of construction methods, materials, and quality control standards
– Familiarity with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices
– Excellent problem-solving, critical-thinking, and decision-making abilities to address complex technical challenges
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
– Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
– Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to construction sites as needed
