Purpose of the Role
The Senior Project Procurement Manager is responsible for managing service delivery to the Cat 3 & 4 Projects (Major Capital Projects) Pipeline. To manage service delivery to these projects including: strategic planning and setting contracting strategies, identifying, negotiating and completion of national and international agreements needed to execute capital projects and contract management, managing Project Procurement professionals, inclusive of EPCM procurement resources to ensure value is derived and Debswana’s commercial entitlement is enforced.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Manages fulfillment of Cat 3& 4 Capital Projects Pipeline, cost effectively and ethically within the Supply Chain policies and procedures
- Develops and adapts the Project Procurement strategy and resources to ensure that Project procurement delivers on the rapid development and changing demand of its customers
- Develops and implements Project Procurement policies to ensure adherence to best corporate and governance principles
- Develops and manages talent for the discipline – this includes succession plans, mentor programs, performance management and any other applicable interventions
- Ensures efficient, effective support systems e.g. project procurement policies, procedures, contractual terms and conditions and templates in compliance with all legal and corporate good governance, business ethics and sound commercial practice
- Leads a dynamic team of Project Procurement professionals, inclusive of EPCM procurement resource
- Leads contractual negotiations, establishes contracts and contract management to minimise commercial risk exposure
- Maintains an adequate control environment to ensure the achievement of section goals
- Manages Project Procurement Risks through effective real time risk logs
- Manages local contract and supplier management in line with national and international agreement
- Manages the dispute resolution (claims) process
- Plans and sets contracting strategies to meet CEEP requirements
- Plans, implements and manages project procurement deliverables needed for the De Beers and Anglo Stage Gate Reviews
- Sets strategies, targets, plans and tactics for project procurement to drive the SCM and Group initiatives

Education
- Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management
Experience
10 years experience in Capital Procurement, with five (5) years in a senior capacity
Experience in commercial risk management and mitigation actions
Experience in mega capital projects
Experience in managing large disparate teams
