Purpose of the Role
| To provide preventative and curative health services to patients. To manage and coordinate the clinical services function to achieve business objectives. |
Key Job Responsibilities
- Manages and controls allocated funds and operates within approved parameters
- Assesses the urgency and severity of presenting problems of inpatients and outpatients through history taking and examination
- Orders relevant investigation to aid diagnosis
- Institutes appropriate treatment options and interventions in line with the diagnosis
- Performs various operations and gives anesthesia within scope of practice and experience
- Provides care and support for people with chronic and terminal conditions
- Refers patients for diagnostic, therapeutic and support services as appropriate
- Manages patients with infectious diseases to prevent or limit their spread
- Provides evidence based screening, risk assessment and early detection of illness, disease and disability
- Provides family planning and reproductive health services
- Implement and monitor National Health Programmes
- Coordinates radiology and laboratory functions
- Collects, analyses data and produces clinical reports as required by management
- Leads committees to meet company, legal and accreditation requirements
- Interprets and aligns the section’s strategic plans to the operational business plan
- Reviews sectional policies and procedures to ensure conformity with current professional standards, and accreditation body requirements
- Initiates, monitors and controls short term departmental projects to ensure attainment of desired results
- Identifies, coordinates and manages the implementation of and adherence to legal and corporate governance principles/requirements in area of responsibility
- Implements knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance
- Identifies and implements creative and innovative ideas to continuously improve and sustain business performance
- Manages the effectiveness areas of subordinates and reviews targets
- Implements departmental talent management initiatives by ensuring the right competence and effectiveness of manpower (capacity building) through developing and implementing career, localisation/succession, training and development plans
Other Job Responsibilities
- Coordinates and monitors the implementation of safety, health and environmental programs in area of responsibility taking cognizance of all legal requirements
Education
- Bachelors Degree in MBChB, MBBS or equivalent
