SENIOR LECTURER IN APPLIED MECHANICS (Contract Position)
FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY
DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
VACANCY NO: FET/ME IRC 1884
Duties:Â The successful candidate will be expected to:Â (i)Â Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Mechanics and related areas;Â (ii)Â Supervise both undergraduate and graduate student research projects; (iii)Â Conduct research in the area of mechanics and also complement existing research activities;Â (iv)Â Participate in other academic and professional activities of the department;Â (v)Â Render professional service and carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements: Applicants should (i) have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related areas; (ii) at least three (3) years teaching experience in Applied Mechanics or related areas at a university or comparable institution;  (iii) minimum of six (6) pieces of research articles, 4 of which must be in refereed/accredited journals in recognized indexing databases, with evidence of sustained research output, research activity and scholarly presentations at conferences; (iv) candidate to also demonstrate leadership qualities, and evidence of social engagement in the profession and Community.
