Main purpose of the position

To plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate the provision of network maintenance planning and technical support services to ensure sustainability and security of the Transmission and Distribution network.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervises the execution of network maintenance planning activities within agreed timelines.
  • Delivers high-quality work in an efficient manner by breaking objectives into tasks through scheduling.
  • Matches resources to the process or operational requirements and creatively uses resources to complete work efficiently.
  • Analyses data to measure and evaluate productivity and quality against other teams.
  • Increases productivity by setting stretch targets and adapting or modifying work plans/schedules/methods.
  • Supervises the maintenance and control of technical libraries
  • Supervises and coordinates management of technical documents from project handover to decommissioning.
  • Organises, co-ordinates and prioritises maintenance execution by allocating resources to the correct teams and monitoring of performance of these teams within plants.
  • Determines whether resources need to be sourced externally or internally based on maintenance requirements and time constraints.
  • Schedules and moves teams between plants based on resource requirements.
  • Develops management processes and maintenance programs for the operation and maintenance of a power transmission and distribution networks / systems.
  • Coordinate development and enforce compliance to overall maintenance execution process / guidelines, procedures, templates and standards.
  • Oversees the execution of maintenance interventions by performing checks of the quality and completeness of all maintenance interventions on a continuous basis.
  • Takes corrective actions across plants, taking into account the defined maintenance requirements from maintenance engineering and the maintenance scheduling.
  • Identifies shortcomings in existing network maintenance planning processes, systems and procedures and recommend or implement alternative solutions.
  • Applies technical skills effectively to Maintenance Planning section, communicates and translates technical terms so that others can understand and is available to others to solve technical or procedural problems and issues.
  • Applies knowledge of the discipline and innovative skills to stay abreast with new developments to improve own efficiency.
  • Uses technical expertise to identify risks, analyse risks, design solution capture in risk management system, and treat risk.
  • Designs condition monitoring system hardware as well as software packages.
  • Performs advanced statistical analyses and expert interpretation of condition monitoring reports.
  • Gives effect to the strategy by translating plans into milestones, activities, steps, roles and responsibilities.
  • Understands the nature and interdependency of the organisational strategy, business model, revenue and profit drivers and how value is created.
  • Communicates the strategy and vision with impact as well as engaging and motivating team members.
  • Manages the motivation and discipline of staff in area of responsibility in line with laid down procedures to realize the Corporation’s objectives.
  • Manages the performance of the team by working within a performance management system.
  • Determines assets reliability and applies asset reliability improvement processes
  • Organises, co-ordinates and supervise arrangement of Network outages.
  • Prioritises maintenance execution by allocating resources (ensuring the correct parts, tools, etc. are available to execute) to the correct teams and monitoring of performance of these teams within plants.
  • Determines whether resources need to be sourced externally or internally based on maintenance requirements and time constraints.
  • Schedules and moves teams between plants based on resource requirements.

Experience

  • At least Seven (7) years’ post qualification experience in High Voltage Environment, two (2) years of which will have been in systems operations /maintenance in a power utility industry

Qualifications

  • Recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Professional Membership of the Engineering Registration Board (ERB) is required.
  • Senior Authorisation is compulsory up to 66 kV or 400kV
  • Class B Driver’s License Required
