Senior Credit Evaluation Analyst (Re-advertisement)  Gaborone

ROLE ACTIVITIES

1. Credit Evaluation and Analysis:
– Conduct thorough financial analysis on credit applications, including the review of financial statements, cash flows, and credit reports.
– Assess the risk profile of applicants based on financial health, business models, market conditions, and credit history.
– Approve loans within lending mandate and make recommendations for credit approvals, rejections, or conditional approvals with appropriate risk mitigation measures.

2. Portfolio Management
– Monitor the performance of the institution’s credit portfolio, identifying potential risks or emerging issues.
– Conduct regular portfolio reviews to ensure compliance with credit policies and early identification of problem accounts.

3. Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
– Perform risk assessments for various credit products, identifying key risks and potential mitigants.
– Propose strategies to mitigate credit risks, including setting credit limits, requiring collateral, or recommending pricing adjustments.

4. Collaboration with Stakeholders
– Work closely with Business Bankers, Sales Consultants, and credit committees to provide insights on complex credit applications.
– Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and internal audit teams as necessary to ensure compliance with credit policies.

5. Policy Development and Improvement:
– Contribute to the development and refinement of credit evaluation policies, procedures, and risk models.
– Participate in initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency and accuracy of the credit evaluation process.

6. Team Mentorship:
– Provide mentorship and guidance to, Business Bankers, Sales Consultants reviewing their work and offering feedback.
– Conduct training sessions to ensure the team is up to date with best practices, regulatory requirements, and market trends.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field;
  • Certifications, Credit Risk Certified (CRC), or equivalent qualifications in credit risk management;
  • 6+ years of experience in credit analysis, risk management, or credit evaluation in a financial institution.
  • Experience in assessing complex credit applications and dealing with both SMME  and Retail credit portfolios.
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk analysis tools, financial modeling, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Agric Lending is an added advantage
