Description: 

Purpose of the Role

To manage, plan and oversee the Contracts function to ensure availability of goods and services for production; and manage all commercial aspects of Contracts to ensure effective operational delivery and monitoring of contracts and supplier performance to minimize risk.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages the implementation of the Contracts strategy to meet the organisation’s medium and long term plans
  • Develops Contract Management Framework for Debswana with due consideration to the underpinning terms and conditions, resulting in Group standardization of different types of contracts and mitigation of risks.
  • Develops and manages a portfolio of contracts and tenders that reflect customers’ needs and take account of legislation, company policies and procedures, ECOHS requirements, fraud prevention, sustainability and workforce issues
  • Manages and negotiates cost-effective and sustainable goods and services contracts that meet customer requirements
  • Develops systems to ensure rigour is applied in the development and negotiation of key contractual terms and conditions (incentivise, continuous improvement, risk management, exit strategies, pricing, intellectual property rights & relationship management)
  • Manages business risks associated with tenders and contracts so that they are acceptable
  • Implements sectional talent management initiatives by ensuring the right competence and effectiveness of manpower (capacity building) through developing and implementing career, localisation/succession, training and development plans.
  • Manages and monitors suppliers performance against the terms of their contracts and any associated key performance indicators.

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages the Sectional area’s financial needs to develop a budget and ensures sufficient financial resources to meet the budget.
  • Adheres to all safety health and environmental policies and procedures in areas of responsibility
  • Implements sectional talent management initiatives by ensuring the right competence and effectiveness of manpower (capacity building) through developing and implementing career, localisation/succession, training and development plans.
  • Initiates, monitors and controls sectional projects to ensure attainment of desired results

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management or Materials Management

Experience

8 years post qualification experience, 3 of which should be in a middle management role
