Morupule Coal Mine is owned by the Minerals Development Company Botswana (MDCB) at 100% ownership.

Morupule Coal Mine is located 14 km northwest of the urbanized village of Palapye (the fastest growing center outside the capital city of Gaborone), along the Serowe-Palapye national highway (A14).

– SECURITY OFFICER

Job Summary:
To provide security service to prevent and minimise losses and misappropriation the product and other company assets in accordance with MCM policies and legal requirements.

Key Activities:
 Adheres to all quality assurance/governance protocols/principles in area of responsibility.
 Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budget and operates within approved parameters.
 Manages access control measures to prevent misappropriation of the Product and assets by:
 Identifying weaknesses and implementing corrective actions.
 Authorizing entry and exit of property from security areas.
 Completing and updating all security registers.
 Monitors and ensures that daily inspections of the Access Management System and security infrastructure within Low Risk areas are conducted.
 Manages access into Low Risk areas in accordance with set parameters to prevent misappropriation of product and company assets (Vehicles & personnel).
 Ensures compliance to standards by communicating sectional procedures to employees and stakeholder.
 Conducts both proactive and reactive security risk assessments in area of responsibility and takes appropriate action.
 Executes first line support to the command control, coordination of incidents response and early stages of emergency management until such time that an emergency response team is formed and operational.
 Monitors and ensures that daily inspections of the Surveillance System and security infrastructure within High Risk areas are conducted.
 Manages implementation of surveillance and control activities against a clear risk based approach that leads to the deliberate application of control.
 Manages the implementation of access process to high risk areas in accordance with set parameters to prevent misappropriation of product and company assets.
 Conducts regular audits on system operation to ensure data integrity and validity and credibility.
 Customizes system interfaces to enable determination of trends and anomalies e.g. access statistics, alarms and violations records.
 Performs user definition setup by setting system parameters (access levels and access profiles) and password controls.
 Monitors and reviews CCTV surveillance activities and takes corrective action.
 Implements Intelligence & investigation plans to ensure effective information collection and investigation to protect product company assets.
 Analyses and interprets information received from various sources to identify trends and meaning and advises management on the criminal landscape.
 Prepares event flow charts, activity flows, critical path analysis, association matrices and diagrams on identified trends to mitigate risk of exposure.
 Maintains Intelligence and investigation database of contacts and informers in accordance with pre-set requirements.
 Adheres to all safety, health and environment policies and procedures in area of responsibility.
 Identifies and implements creative and innovative ideas in order to improve the Mini Business Unit performance.
 Maintains effective relationships clients/partners/customers to ensure achievement of Mini Business Unit objectives.
 Takes responsibility for providing excellent services by developing self, applying skills, knowledge and experiences to improve and measure their own performance against set standards.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
 Diploma in Risk/Security Management or equivalent.
 3 years in a risk or security environment.
 Knowledge of SHE Management System ISO 45001: 2018 and ISO 14001: 2015.

Role competencies:
 Knowledge of Basic Security and Fire Inspection Procedures
 Knowledge of Security Operations and Procedure.
 Surveillance Skills.
