JOB SUMMARY
The Security Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining security policies, procedures, and programs to protect postal assets, employees, and customers. The role ensures compliance with national security regulations, mitigates risks, and manages security-related incidents within the Company.
The position directly reports to the Chief Operations Officer.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Key Responsibilities:
• Advise the Board and Management on security compliance for postal operations to ensure that decisions made at these levels are consistent with the local and international security environment and relevant legislation.
• Develops and makes recommendations for the corporate security strategy, development and implementation of policies and procedures.
• Identifies and makes recommendations for the procurement of requisite infrastructure for the security unit.
• Compiles statistical data and management information reports on the security environment.
• Ensures maintenance of security equipment, ensuring confidentiality of the business overall at all times.
• Liaises with relevant departments to ensure loss control throughout the Post and compliance with all set policies and procedures, rules and regulations and the law.
• Oversee the security budget and allocate funds for necessary security equipment and services.
• Design and execute security plans for mail processing centres, warehouses, and delivery networks for both inbound and outbound.
• Implement and manage surveillance, alarms, and access control systems across postal facilities.
• Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and Risk department for investigations security related incidents.
• Manage the security personnel and third-party security service providers.
• Ensure compliance with national and international postal security regulations (e.g., UPU security standards).
• Develop and maintain business continuity and emergency response plans.
• Conduct regular security audits and inspections across the business.
• Conduct security awareness programs for employees.
• Maintain accurate security records, including logs of incidents and corrective actions.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Business Management or related field.
• Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or other security related certifications will be an added advantage.
Experience:
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in security management in a security environment or criminal
investigations or forensic investigations; one of these should have been in a managerial role. Knowledge and extensive understanding of financial, operational risk.
Competencies:
• Strong understanding of security principles, practices and relevant laws.
• Ability to manage and motivate a security team.
• Capability to assess security risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal.
• Ability to manage sensitive information with integrity and discretion.
• Proficient in drafting policies, reports, and other documentation.
