Purpose of the Role

To manage security areas at the operations to achieve business objectives.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Analyses the sectional area’s financial needs to develop a budget and ensures sufficient financial resources to meet business needs
  • Manages and controls allocated funds and operates within approved parameters
  • Develops and implements the sectional plan in line with the operational plan
  • Manages access to security areas in accordance with set parameters to prevent misappropriation of diamonds and company assets
  • Manages the access process into the mines in accordance with the Precious and Semi-Precious Stones Act
  • Develops and reviews sectional procedures to ensure compliance to standards
  • Provides technical advice in the development of treatment/process plans and ensures adherence to diamond control standards
  • Assesses, reviews, and implements initiatives and recommendations relating to asset protection including those coming from Diamond Control Teams (multi-disciplinary) within the operation and makes recommendations to enhance protection of assets
  • Coordinates the implementation of the Security Maturity Model across the operation
  • Conducts both proactive and reactive security risk assesssments in area of responsibility and takes appropriate action
  • Implements the security investigation plan in line with the strategic business plan for Debswana
  • Implements an effective security operation model in line with identified risks
  • Conducts ongoing risk and trends analysis, implements risk management processes and asset protection controls and takes appropriate action to maximize protection of assets and product
  • Implements Security Emergency Response Plans, Crisis Response Plans and Disaster Recovery Plans
  • Provides first line support to the command control and coordination of incidents response in early stages of emergency management until such a time that an emergency response team is formed and operational
  • Coordinates the implantation and maintenance of Security Emergency Response Plans, Crisis Response Plans, and Disaster Recovery Plans
  • Conducts regular audits on system operation, utilization and credibility and ensures data integrity
  • Maintains good relations with stakeholders and internalize security culture and awareness across all levels through visible felt leadership
  • Manages the implementation of and monitors compliance to legislative and corporative governance principles and requirements
  • Manages and coordinates the implementation of safety, health and environmental programme in area of responsibility
  • Initiates and coordinates the implementation of projects in accordance with Project Management framework
  • Implements knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Identifies and implements creative and innovative ideas to continuously improve and sustain business performance
  • Manages subordinates’ key effectiveness areas by setting, monitoring and reviewing performance and taking remedial action as necessary

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Security Management or related field

Experience

  • 5 years postgraduate experience in the field of security and risk management, 2 of which should have been at supervisory level
