Salary Scale: F1 (692 484) per annum

Leave: 30 working days per annum

Benefits:

Optional contributory medical aid scheme with the Botswana Public Officers’ Medical Aid Scheme (BPOMAS) (Government pays 50% and employee pays 50%). Government will also contribute 50% of the medical aid cover for individuals who are already members of a different Medical Aid Scheme other than the BPOMAS. A contract of 24 to 36 months, with a gratuity of 30% payable upon expiry of contract.

Qualifications:

Master’s in Public Administration, Business Administration and Management, Political Science, Industrial Psychology or any related field.

Experience:

Minimum of twenty (20) years in Public Administration, two (2) years of which should have been at F2 level for serving officers or equivalent role in the parastatals or private sectors.

Main purpose of the Job:

To provide strategic leadership and guidance in the government functions, monitoring of government machinery and coordination of implementation of policies and programmes within and across ministries/departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Key Performance Areas:

  1. Coordinates and provides policy guidance in the development and review of Public Administrations policies and legislation in accordance with national development imperatives and priorities.
  2. Facilitates Ministries/ Departments and Agencies in developing sectoral Public Administration policies in alignment with national policies and priorities.
  3. Translates the national vision, national Development plans and the ruling party manifestos intents, into various Public Sectoral policies and programmes and cascades accordingly.
  4. Oversees establishment and abolition of Public Office.
  5. Oversees Public holiday management.
  6. Oversees the processing of appeals and pardons to His Excellency the President.
  7. Oversees Strategic disaster preparedness, management and responses.
  8. Oversees District Administration role in provision of strategic leadership in the implementation of Government policies, strategies and pogrammes at local/district level.
  9. Oversees appointments of Commissioners of Oaths and Justices of Peace.
  10. Oversees development of guidelines and code of ethics for Commissioners and Justices of Peace in line with the governing policies and legislation.
  11. Monitors implementation of regional and international protocols such as African Peer Reviews and Agenda 2063 on Public Administration performance.
  12. Undertakes any other related duties as required to meet exigencies of the service.
