Job Description
Scope of Work:
- Organize workload according to daily department stats and ensure turnaround demands
- Responsible for planning and organizing of all weighing and digestion activities within the section
- Maintain and organize production logs and follow up on priority work orders
- Track sample movement on GEMS and respond timeously to client queries and any technical issues they may have impact on the section’s activities
- Ensure all documentation related to maintenance, calibration and training are up to date and available at all times
- Require to supervise staff members on a shift from time to time (including night shift)
- Overall responsible for stock takes and maintenance of minimum stock levels in the section
- Write reports and do QC and turnaround time investigations
- Maintain up to date communication with the Laboratory Manager on issues that may involve Sample Preparation staff, production or any other matter relating to the section’s performance and operation. Assist to resolve these timeously
- Assist with run and work order approvals from time to time. A thorough understanding of these tasks is critical and must be acquired within reasonable time
- Assist to continuously improve TAT and estimation of results reporting
- Ordering of consumables and other related Sample Preparation supplies
- Perform all other reasonable duties as determined by the Laboratory Manager
- Carry out sample preparation as directed by the Laboratory Manager in accordance with the relevant training records
- Maintain the general cleanliness of the laboratory as per the organisation’s housekeeping schedule and relevant procedures
- Ensure that laboratory glassware and apparatus is available for use as required and requested by all laboratory technicians
- Always follow all ALS Quality System Procedures
- Always abide by local legislative requirements
- Ensure that the quality of analytical data produced meets the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17025:2017 standard and are maintained at a level that meets or exceeds company and market acceptable standards
- Sorting samples and weighing samples
- Loading samples in the oven
- Use hazardous chemicals in a safe and controlled manner
- Ensure ALS Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Sound technical knowledge of Sample Preparation techniques
- Secondary School Education Certificate from a recognized  Institution . 3-5 years Laboratory experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English is a mandatory requirement.
- Good interpersonal skills and effective in working in a multi-cultural environment
- Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
- Able to prioritize and give accurate feedback on time
- High standards of work ethic and attention to detail
