The Ministry of Defence and Security invites applications from qualified citizens of Botswana to fill the following posts:-

POST: SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT COORDINATOR X1
SALARY SCALE: D1 (P385.892 – P426.660) per annum

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To offer a comprehensive safety, health and environment program by creating a conducive physiological and psychosocial workplace environment for Ministry employees

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

1.Collaborate with key stakeholders on health, safety and environment service delivery in the Ministry
2.Disseminate program information including research findings to customers and key stakeholders
3.Provide advice, information, training and education on occupational health, safetyand hygiene and on ergonomics and protective equipment.
4.Increase awa-eness on gender, health safetyand environment programs as well as conduct screening for different aliments such as chronic and non-communicable diseases.
5.Educate employees on healthy living by implementing life skills programs. SHE codes and safety standards such as office inspections, physical exercise and healthy eating.
6.Provide psychosocial support during bereavement and celebrations and monitor implementation of health and Safety prog ra ms.
7.Identify and assess risks from health hazards in the workplace and provides solutions for mitigation.
8.Essblish strategic linkages with health service sskehokters for prevention, treatment, care and support.
9.Provide advice on planning and organization of work and work practices, including the design of work environment and maintenance of equipment.
10.Assess workers health in relation to the productivity or work.
11.Implement physical fitness, nutrition, psychosocial and rehabilitation programs.
12.Develop and maintain sound operational guidelines for the ministry, based on established Public Service employees’ wellness guidelines, Safety Policy, National Health Pokey and HIV/AIDS Policy.

QUALIFIED APPLICANTS PROFILE

To be considered for this position, candidates must have at least
Bachelor Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related complemented by twelve (12) years’ experience. two (2) years of which should have been at D2 salary scale or equivalent
