ROAD ENGINEER
The candidate should possess a minimum of Bachelor Degree in Engineering I Civil Engineering, Valid E.R.B Registration / practicing Certificate, with minimum of 10 years experience.
Overview
The Road Engineer is responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of various types of road infrastructure, including highways, rural roads, urban streets, and bridges. Road Engineers apply their technical expertise and knowledge of civil engineering principles to ensure the safe, efficient, and sustainable development of transportation networks.
Responsibilities
– Conduct site surveys, soil tests, and traffic studies to gather data for road design and planning
– Develop detailed engineering designs and construction plans for new roads, road expansions, and rehabilitation projects
– Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and project timelines for road construction and maintenance activities
– Oversee the construction and maintenance of roads, ensuring adherence to project specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations
– Monitor and evaluate the performance of existing road infrastructure, identifying potential issues and recommending appropriate maintenance or improvement strategies
– Collaborate with other professionals, such as urban planners, traffic engineers, and environmental specialists, to integrate road design with the broader transportation and land-use planning objectives
– Analyze traffic data, accident reports, and environmental impact assessments to optimize road design and address safety and sustainability concerns
– Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders
– Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, industry standards, and local regulations throughout the project lifecycle
– Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in road engineering and construction practices
Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
– Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license or equivalent certification
– Extensive experience in road design, construction, and maintenance, preferably in both urban and rural settings
– Strong technical skills in civil engineering, including soil mechanics, structural analysis, traffic engineering, and transportation planning
– Proficiency in using engineering software, such as AutoCAD, GIS, and transportation modeling tools
– Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities to address complex engineering challenges
– Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
– Knowledge of relevant building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards
– Project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation
