Quantity Surveyor – Red East Construction

Job Description

RED EAST CONSTRUCTION is looking for the following quantity surveyors The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects, including estimating, cost control, and contract administration. You will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects by providing expert guidance on budgeting, procurement, and value engineering. As a skilled quantity surveyor, you will leverage your technical expertise, analytical abilities, and keen attention to detail to help clients and project teams make informed decisions throughout the construction lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

– Prepare detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities for construction projects
– Analyze drawings, specifications, and other project documentation to identify and quantify required materials, labor, and equipment
– Develop comprehensive project budgets and cash flow forecasts, and monitor expenditures against budgets
– Negotiate and administer construction contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders
– Implement effective cost control and value engineering measures to optimize project profitability
– Conduct regular cost and progress reporting, identifying potential risks and recommending mitigation strategies
– Manage the procurement process, including sourcing suppliers, obtaining quotes, and evaluating bids
– Participate in project planning, design reviews, and progress meetings to provide financial and commercial input
– Liaise with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve commercial disputes and claims
– Maintain accurate project records, documentation, and cost data
– Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in quantity surveying

Required Skills and Experience:

– Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related engineering discipline
– Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) certification or membership in a relevant professional body
– 5+ years of experience as a quantity surveyor in the construction industry
– Proficient in construction cost estimating, budgeting, and financial management
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical information
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
– Thorough understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and value engineering principles
– Proficient in using quantity surveying software, spreadsheets, and other project management tools
– Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and its applications in quantity surveying
