QUANTITY SURVEYOR
The candidate should possess a minimum of 12 years experience in Quantity surveying with QRSC Professional.

Overview

The Quantity Surveyor is a construction industry professional responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects. This includes estimating costs, preparing budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring the project remains within the agreed budget. Quantity Surveyors play a crucial role in the successful delivery of construction projects by providing financial oversight and expertise.

Responsibilities

– Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects, taking into account materials, labor, equipment, and other relevant factors
– Analyze contract documents, drawings, and specifications to quantify the required materials and resources
– Negotiate and manage subcontractor and supplier contracts to ensure the best value for the client
– Monitor project progress and costs, identifying and addressing any variances or discrepancies
– Prepare and submit progress reports, cost statements, and other financial documentation
– Assist in the preparation of tender documents and bids
– Provide advice and guidance to the project team on cost-effective construction methods and materials
– Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction managers to optimize the project’s financial performance
– Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
– Identify and mitigate potential financial risks throughout the project lifecycle
– Participate in project planning, design, and value engineering discussions
– Provide expert testimony and support in dispute resolution processes, if required

 Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field
– Chartered membership in a professional body, such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
– Extensive experience in the construction industry, with a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and cost estimation
– Proficient in the use of construction cost estimation software and project management tools
– Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with various stakeholders
– Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records
– Knowledge of relevant construction laws, regulations, and industry standards
