VACANCY CIRCULAR
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, highly motivated and self-driven Botswana Citizens for employment on a two years contract for the below mentioned position tenable in the City of Francistown Council.
POST: QUANTITY SURVEYOR – C1 (ASSISTANT CLERK OF WORKS)
SALARY: C1 (P174,672 – P207,792) per annum
QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field from a recognized University or Academic Institution.
30 Working days per annum
A minimum of Four (4) years work related experience, as a Quantity Surveyor Applicants should attach valid certified copies of their Registration and Practicing Certificate as a Professional Quantity Surveyor obtained from Quantity Surveying Registration Council (QSRC), Botswana.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To assist and work jointly with the Senior Architect on site so as to coordinate, plan, manage and undertake overall responsibility of the performance and construction of a given project as Assistant Clerk of Works.
DUTIES:-
⦁ Monitors building projects progress to carry out cost control analysis in order to avoid possible cost overruns and suggests preventative measures are in place.
⦁ Prepares monthly cost reports on site and preliminary project final account.
⦁ Prepares valuation jointly with the Project Quantity Surveyor to facilitate issuance of project interim payment certificates.
⦁ Notify the Senior Architect of any problems arising and any decision or variation required. In doing so ensure that no work with financial or time implications is undertaken without the Project Managers’/
Engineers’written approval.
⦁ Also confirms quality assurance and ensures standards of workmanship conform to the specifications in collaboration with the Senior Architect
⦁ Ensure that Health and Safety measures are in place and implemented including interpretation of the Factories Act, Health Act, and Electrical Regulations and routinely check related works, jointly with Senior Architect.
⦁ Ensure that all sub-structure work etc. is not covered up before re-measurement works are done in collaboration with the Project Quantity Surveyor.
⦁ Also ensures that materials ordered for the project and delivered on-site are as per specifications
⦁ To undertake any other related duties as directed by the Town Clerk.
