  • PROJECTS MANAGER

Job Purpose
The role is of strategic importance to the company as it ensures that the company acquires new projects and delivers in time within budget and to set standards. The person will be responsible for overall management of the project and reporting to executive management on Project Performance. In addition to experience in Mining Operation, he/she should be experienced in Coal Mining and Mining Cost estimation using zero-base budgeting principles and should have an understanding of Key Performance Indicators of Earth Moving Equipment. The applicant should be a qualified mining engineer with more than 12 years experience in both Open Pit (soft and hard rock) and Underground hard rock mining environment. The candidate should have operated at Senior Management level for more than 5 years.

Key Areas of Responsibility

The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties, such as, but not limited to:

• Maintaining the viability of the mining projects as a going concern by optimizing operation efficiencies.
• Planning and estimating resource requirements and minimize wastages as far as possible.
• Liaise and coordinate with stakeholders at all levels
• Assessing potential business opportunities and development of such opportunities
• Lead the team in pricing mining projects through the zero-base budgeting process
• Preparation of project proposals and presentation of same to Management and Customers
• Performing mining simulation studies to determine suitable mining method.
• Review projects to identify areas of possible inefficiencies and recommend action plans for improvement
• Mining activity scheduling and coordination, short-term planning
• Ensure efficient utilization of resources including training and development of the employees
• Drafting and implementation of OSHAS-based SHEQ. management system. Ensuring all operations are carried on in an appropriate, cost-effective way

Required Technical Skills, Training & Experience
• BSc Hons Degree In Mining Engineering
• Training in Project Management
• Business leadership program
• Experience and knowledge of open cast coal mining
• Experience in hard rock open-cast mining
• Experience in underground mining
• Use of ERP system and Project management software
• Data mi ne Software
• CANDY CCS software
• Should be registered with ERB with a valid practicing certificate
• Knowledge of SHE Management System ISO 45001: 2018 and ISO 14001: 2015.
• Experience and working knowledge of AMT
