Job Description

The Project Planner/Scheduler will be responsible for laying out the framework that guides a project’s progression from initiation to completion. They identify and segregate different tasks that make up a project, setting milestones and deadlines and monitoring progress to the end goal. The Planner plays an important role in ensuring that a project is completed efficiently and on time, while staying within budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing comprehensive project plans, monitoring progress and ensuing projects are completed on time.
  • Regularly assessing project performance, focusing on both short-term achievements and long-term outcomes.
  • Proactively reporting and escalating concerns to management as necessary.
  • Developing and maintaining integrated master schedules for capital projects from initiation through commissioning and project close-out.
  • Assisting in developing and updating project schedules using approved planning software.
  • Maintaining project schedules and ensuring activities are updated with current progress information.
  • Monitoring project progress and report schedule variances to the Project Manager or PMO Manager.
  • Preparing weekly and monthly planning and progress reports.
  • Working alongside internal teams and communicating with external stakeholders to ensuring project objectives are aligned.
  • Assisting in maintaining project documentation, including schedules, work plans, and progress records.
  • Supporting resource planning by tracking labour, equipment, and material requirements.
  • Participating in project planning and progress review meetings and record agreed actions.
  • Updating project milestones and monitoring completion against planned dates.
  • Assisting in identifying potential scheduling issues and escalating them to the Project Manager.
  • Ensuring project schedules comply with PMO standards, governance requirements, and project control procedures.
  • Maintaining project planning documentation, schedule revisions, and change logs.
  • Supporting project cost forecasting by integrating schedule progress with project cost control information.
  • Promoting continuous improvement of planning methodologies, scheduling processes, reporting tools, and project controls.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years in project planning, scheduling, project administration within a mining, engineering, construction, industrial environment or related experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a strong focus on Excel and Microsoft Project.
  • Project management trainings will be an added advantage.
