Main purpose of the position
To plan, design, coordinate, optimise, and oversee the processes involved in the generation and distribution of power within the station by analysing data, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements in accordance with the safety, environmental and engineering standards to ensure .plant efficiency, optimal plant availability, and reliability of plant operations. . The role is also responsible for maximising output while minimising costs and environmental impact, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and enhancing the overall productivity of the plant.
Job Responsibilities
- Continuously analyse process flows to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Regularly monitor plant performance metrics to identify and implement improvements. Uses Data Analytics to optimise operations and predict maintenance needs.
- Implements strategies to improve reliability and lifespan of the plant of equipment and systems.
- Lead root cause analysis of the process incidents and critical equipment failures to ensure continuous operation.
- Delivers prescribed outcomes for area of responsibility by improving and/or working within established procurement procedures.
- Helps senior colleagues manage internal client and customer relationships by using sales/client systems and protocols.
- Manages relationships with clients to ensure their needs are met while supporting senior colleagues in managing more important client and customer relationships.
- Analyses key themes using data from a wide range of sources and identifies possible impacts on the business.
- Identifies shortcomings, suggests improvements, and implements approved revisions to current compliance processes, systems and procedures within assigned unit and/or discipline.
- Identifies shortcomings and suggests improvements to existing processes, systems, and procedures, then delivers a plan for a small element of a change management program with guidance from a project/program manager.
- Improves personal performance and coaches’ others when required using performance management systems and protocols.
- Implements and manages effective Performance Management system throughout BPC and to ensure the success of the programme.
- Trains graduates on the job and on safety issues to ensure they operate at a competent level.
- Delivers own prescribed outcomes and/or provides support services by using the organization’s safety, health and environment systems and protocols.
- Investigates all incidents/accidents associated with the operation of any plant and implement remedial action and improvements identified to prevent and minimise future incidents and accidents.
- Develops baseline risk assessment for area of responsibility and ensures compliance to risk controls.
- Adheres to existing project governance procedures for undertaking of projects for continuous plant improvements by engaging relevant stakeholders.
- Applies specific knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities in order to meet project requirements.
- Develops and/or delivers for approval operational and capital budget plans for own Section to the Senior Engineer.
Qualifications
- A recognised Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent.
- Must be registered with the Engineers Registration Board as a Professional Engineer.
Experience
- At least five (5) years post qualification experience of which three (3) years should have been in a production control room environment.
