Purpose of the Role
To contribute to the education of the whole child, attending to the intellectual, emotional, physical and social development of the child
Key Job Responsibilities
- Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets
- Assists with the toilet and tea-time routine for a group of children daily
- Attends to and deals with minor incidents/accidents when they occur e.g. children’s emergencies such as vomits, toilet (self mess) and bus routine
- Coaches children in sport, music, extra mural activities and various basic developmental plays as required
- Complies with all legal requirements pertaining to the teaching profession, eg marking the attendance registers and responsibility for the safety of children placed within his/her care; etc
- Continuosly assesses, records and appraises children’s progress
- Contributes to the fuller developmennt of the child’s potential through the medium of extra-mural activities;
- Devises appropriate teaching methods/approaches to develop skills such as research and study
- Draws up yearly, termly and weekly plans of subject matter
- Maintain a sound relationship with parents by means of formal occassions (e.g. Sports Events, Music Events)
- Manages all activities in library/classroom area;
- Observes small groups/individuals identified as needing additional assistance i.e. translations, listening to children re – telling stories and reports to the supervisor
- Perform an array of administrative duties, including but not limited to; maintaining equipment and equipment register. Playground duty, scholar patrol duty etc.
- Performs all tasks of a predominately manual nature i.e. cleaning, lifting, moving and offloading duties. etc.
- Performs an array of administrative duties, including but not limited to; photocopying and collation of teaching material, newsletters, etc. and collation of pupils’ files
- Prepares and coordinates music/cultural shows including but not limited to plays/assemblies/soiree nights/christmas carols, drawing up duty lists, setting up for the hall/courtyard for musical, auditioning pupils, drawing up music extra mural programme.
- Prepares lesson plans to achieve desired objectives taking cognizance of available resources and equipment;
- Produces, prepares and sets up teaching material as directed by the Supervisor
- Promotes reading, care and appreciation for books through activities such as book displays and demonstrations
- Provides an effective and stimulating environment for education;
- Researching the market to keep abreast with best industry practices in the field of music education
- Teaches subjects across the curriculum based on topics dealt within the mainstream as integration to enhance specific learning areas

Education
- O Level
- Diploma in Primary Education
Experience
3 years post qualification experience in teaching
