Purpose of the Role

To manage and coordinate the efficient and sustainable execution of the mine and project plan through the delivery of timely mine planning and scheduling outputs.  Support review of systems, standards and processes to ensure delivery of best practice mine planning, scheduling and technical support of mining operations.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Seeks opportunities to systematically support efforts in leading and improving safety in all areas of our business.
  • Works within the Underground Mine Engineering Team and support underground technical functions which includes primarily Underground Mine Planning/scheduling
  • Responsible for delivery of accurate mine design, plans and scheduling outputs for the underground mine in collaboration with the Principal Planner – Strategic Business Planner, timeously interpreted for safe, efficient and sustainable underground Mining
  • Ensures mine plans and schedules reflect critical risk mitigation controls and iteratively provide input to support safe and efficient mining operations.
  • Performs quality assurance on data that is ingested into the data platform for reporting and analytics and communicates the results to that data owners.
  • Develops systems, processes and routines for effective work and medium-short range execution planning, integrating into aligned, achievable and challenging operational tactics and work plans and schedule for Mining Operations Teams.
  • Develops, designs and co-ordinates production of required plans so as to allow timely implementation of the design
  • Monitors progress of work in order to be able to react to changes in production or development priorities.
  • Performs production reconciliations and make conclusions/recommendations from information gathered through the process and document it.
  • Performs frequent underground checks to ensure that designs accurately reflect prevailing conditions at the work site and design changes will be made if necessary, in a timely manner.
  • Works within and across multi stakeholder H2 Mining Teams, supporting other Heads, Leads and Principles in delivering departmental and BU objectives in support of exceeding Team and BU Goals.
  • Ensures effective team collaboration to combine our strengths, support each other to deliver targeted outcomes.
  • Reviews, sets and finalises annual budgets and technical mine plans, cascading through to business tactics and short-range plans with support actions to ensure operations are supported to delivery compliant with the plan and schedule,
  • Drives improvement and innovation in underground mine planning processes through engagement with external stakeholders, key suppliers and OEM’s and internal business stakeholders.
  • Directs the initiation of projects, ensuring that all projects are managed and executed in accordance with best practice principles
  • Implements the framework for application of knowledge management principles to ensure effective knowledge capture, exchange and adaptation.
  • Provides the framework for identification and implementation of creative and innovative ideas and processes to ensure continuous business improvement.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with all key stakeholders and partners to ensure achievement of business objectives.
  • Manages subordinates’ key effectiveness areas by setting, monitoring and reviewing performance and taking remedial action as necessary.

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for and manages the overall departmental safety, health and environmental programme in line with operational strategy and objectives

Education

  • Degree in Mining Engineering or Equivalent

Experience

8 years mine site based operational, technical and mine planning experience that demonstrates successful application of underground mining engineering fundamentals.
