Pipe Fitter – Sandfire Motheo

This position is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining piping systems for heating and cooling of the plant.

Key Performance Areas

• The role involves collaborating with project staff to design the layout for a pipe system
• Ensures that the plant is in accordance with operation codes, policies, and safety standards.
• Responsible for resolving pipe issues such as clogs or leaks
• Designing and assembling piping structures used in conveying chemicals, steam, and hot liquids at industrial, commercial, and residential properties.
• Welds, solder or cement joints on pipes and pipe fittings to assemble and secure pipes
• Attach pipes to fixtures, such as tanks by means of clamps, brackets, or welding equipment.
• Oversee the repair and replacement of damaged or worn-out pipe components
• Install and configure automatic pipe control systems.

Technical Competencies

• Proven experience as a pipefitter
• Knowledge of health and safety guidelines when dealing with heavy equipment

Qualification & Experience

• National Craft Certificate (NCC): Fitter
• Valid Light Duty Vehicles Driver’s License
• a pipefitting apprenticeship program will be an added advantage
• Valid Botswana Class B Drivers Licence
• 3 years + continuous experience in process plant maintenance
• Sound knowledge in the maintenance, repairs and fault finding of the processing plant equipment
