Job Summary:
The Pipe Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of piping systems for a variety of industries, including oil and gas, manufacturing, power generation, and municipal infrastructure. Using your strong technical expertise and analytical skills, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of these critical systems. As a member of our multidisciplinary engineering team, you will collaborate with stakeholders to develop comprehensive solutions that address the unique challenges and requirements of each project.
Key Responsibilities:
– Conduct feasibility studies, hydraulic and structural analyses, and flow simulations to determine the optimal design and configuration of piping systems
– Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and materials lists for the fabrication and installation of piping components
– Perform stress and vibration analyses to evaluate the integrity and safety of piping systems under various operating conditions
– Develop comprehensive piping system models using specialized software tools to optimize performance and identify potential failure points
– Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, such as ASME, API, and ANSI, throughout the design and implementation process
– Provide technical guidance and oversight during the construction and commissioning of piping installations
– Monitor the operational performance of piping systems, and recommend maintenance, repair, or upgrade strategies to address any issues
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, construction supervisors, and operations personnel, to address technical challenges and ensure the successful delivery of projects
– Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in pipe engineering technology, materials, and industry best practices
– Contribute to the continuous improvement of the organization’s pipe engineering processes and procedures
Required Skills and Experience:
– Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, civil, or chemical engineering, with a focus on pipe and pipeline engineering
– Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license or certification
– 5-10 years of relevant experience in the design, analysis, and management of piping systems
– Proficient in using specialized pipe engineering software, such as AutoPIPE, CAESAR II, and PIPE-FLO
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical data and identify optimal solutions
– Excellent project management and coordination abilities to oversee the successful delivery of pipe engineering projects
– Thorough understanding of relevant codes, standards, and regulations pertaining to the design and construction of piping systems
– Effective communication and stakeholder management skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
– Familiarity with construction practices, materials, and equipment used in piping installations
– Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental stewardship in the execution of pipe engineering projects
