Pension Fund Accounts Manager (Level 4)

Alexander Forbes invites interested candidates to apply for the position of Pension Fund Accounts Manager to join our Accounts team. The individual will report to the Financial Controller and lead a team under the Pension Fund Accounts Team.

The role

  • Responsible a broad range of Pension Fund accounting duties including leading the financial reporting process and providing business support to a range of managers within the group.
  • To ensure that the division is efficiently managed by creating a conducive working environment for staff to work
  • To lead a motivated team through good interpersonal skills, good communication and ability to listen to people
  • To ensure that staff comply with formal procedures for all work functions as per service standards, including to ensure that all work is correct and accurate
  • To handle and resolve client queries within the allocated time standards
  • To manage conflict, time keeping, leave by negotiating effective resolutions To motivate, train and develop staff to the required level of competency

Key Performance Areas

  • Leading the PF Accounts team
  • Managing strategic projects, developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Implementing the business strategy plan
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of Trustee Reports eg monthly Trustee cashflow statements, Quarterly Management Accounts, etc
  • Co-ordinating and managing the month end, quarterly and annual reporting and statutory reporting process
  • Responsible for ensuring timely submission of Annual Returns and Financial Statements to third parties eg Actuaries, Auditors, NBIFIRA and other regulatory bodies
  • To ensure PF specific expenses are paid timeously, to the correct supplier and at the correct amount
  • Overseeing PF tax processes and ensure timely submission of tax payments and returns
  • Ensure monthly reconciliations are performed timely eg bank accounts, Imprest Account
  • Ensure Investments mandates are executed timely and accurately
  • Monitor Financial details to ensure legal requirements are met
  • Ensuring adherence with group and Company specific policies and procedures
  • Assist Trustees with Financial information for Decision Making
  • Responsible for Audits within the business, both internal and External, ensuring they are completed timeously
  • Ensure Audit Queries and Management letter points are addressed before the next Audit
  • Responsible for all other queries resolution

Leadership and Management

  • Lead and manage the team in the execution of their duties and ensure that a high performance culture is encouraged.
  • Work in collaboration with other managers within the Division as well as act as a back-up to managers of other teams when required.
  • Focus on improving employee engagement and maintaining a highly engaged people compliment.
  • Manage performance of staff and talent pipeline.
  • Ensure good quality work from staff and enforce corrective actions where appropriate, including staff training.
  • Ensure multi-skilling of staff within the team
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Manage staff in accordance with statutory regulations.
  • Perform the recruitment of staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate succession planning and career pathing.
  • Ensure effective communication with all staff in allocated business unit.
  • Lead, motivate staff in handling change, and build trust and partnership. Encourage and build a team environment.
  • Perform tasks and duties as delegated by Head of Department, Executives and other seniors in the organization.

Interested candidates will need to demonstrate the following:

Qualifications/ Experience

  • AAT qualified or Accounting Degree

.            Fully Qualified ACCA/CIM A

  • Certificate of Proficiency (COP)
  • Registered member of BICA
  • Minimum 7 years accounting experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years Managerial experience
