Job Description

Botswana Open University (BOU) requires suitably qualified and duty-conscious individuals to serve as Part- Time Tutors in the Diploma in Early childhood (Offered in Gaborone, Palapye, Francistown, Maun and Kang Regional Campuses).

Tutors are required for the following Courses:
1. Communication Skills in Teaching
2. Guidance and Counselling of Young Children
3. Play and Pedagogy
4. Language Acquisition and Development
5. Working with Parents
6. Reading and Writing for Beginners
7. Research Methods and Research Proposals
8. Children’s Learning Environment
9. Assessment of Young Children
10. Managing Early Childhood Programmes
11. IT Essentials
Applicants should specify the courses that they specialise in.

Key Performance Areas:
The responsibility areas of the successful candidates will include the following:
1. Prepare and deliver tutorials online in accordance with programme quality standards and guidelines.
2. Develop, mark, and record assessment activities.
3. Respond to course-related queries raised by learners through different means of communication.
4. Keep records of learner attendance, progress, and other relevant records.
5. Provide guidance and counselling to learners.

Required Qualifications and Experience
1. A Bachelor’s Degree in B.Ed. Early Childhood Education/Early Childhood Development/ Primary
Education.
2. A minimum of two years of teaching experience in tertiary institutions.

Added Advantage
• Experience in Open and Distance Learning
• Registration with BQA as Assessor and/or Moderator

Competencies
• Computer Literacy
• Soft Skills

Requirements
Applicants are required to have internet connectivity, as this will be an IT-mediated programme.
