Purpose of the Role
To implement and manage Mining Systems, applications, data basis, and research on new technology to leverage and align with current and future technological and systems developments to ensure their optimal contribution to the overall business objectives and strategic plans of the organization..
Key Job Responsibilities
- Develops budgets and ensures financial resources are sufficient to meet business needs
- Manages and analyses appropriate capital and operating expenditure which includes all aspects of budget creation, analysis, updating of budget, forecasts and adherence in all areas under the direct control of this position
- Develops and implements Mining Innovation and Technology sectional strategy in line with the departmental strategy.
- Develops and monitors adherence to Mining systems standards.
- Designs new systems in line with Mining business requirements, best practice and business strategy.
- Manages Mining systems and technology through testing and employment of relevant applications.
- Manages and design, development and implementation of relevant databases, conducts regular data validation/audits to ensure data integrity.
- Always manages and monitors availability of servers/databases.
- Defines and develops Systems & Technology standards, quality control and assurance systems to ensure alignment of information management systems and technical processes to the code of practice.
- Manages user support and training for Mining processes, information and systems.
- . Initiates, motivates and manages implementation of projects to ensure attainment of desired goal in line with the departmental strategy
- Coordinates and manages the implementation of and compliance to legal and corporate governance principles requirements
- Adheres to all safety health and environmental policies and procedures in areas of responsibility
- Creates and prioritises strategies to drive the development of geology personnel technical skills capabilities by managing the implementation of the departmental talent management initiatives
- Manages subordinates key effectiveness areas by setting, monitoring and reviewing performance and taking remedial action as necessary
- Implements knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance
- Identifies and implements creative and innovative ideas to continuously improve and sustain business performance
- Establishes and maintains effective relations with all key stakeholders and partners to ensure achievement of business objectives
Other Job Responsibilities
Education
- BSc (Hons) Degree in relevant discipline or equivalent
Experience
5 years post qualification mining experience in Systems and IT Management or relevant.
Comprehensive and thorough understanding of the value chain of the operation.
Legal Certification/Professional Registration
- Registration with Engineering Registration Board (ERB) or equivalent
