METALLURGIST
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
Your role will be responsible for managing small projects targeting process optimisation and cost reduction as well as providing daily technical support and assistance to the Process Plant operation.
MAJOR DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITES:
Your key accountabilities include:
•Supervising activities aimed at achieving metallurgical efficiency on the processing plant.
•Developing and overseeing test programmes and assist in implementing results to enhance plant performance.
•Monitoring and optimising process plant reagents and consumables.
•Compiling and interpreting statistical data for reporting.
•Conducting inspections, scheduling audits and performing metallurgical assurance functions at the Process Plant.
•Maintaining and improving of the historian (PI) workbooks and key-performance indicator reports in automatic reporting systems i.e PI Data link. Dignos, Power Bl etc.
•Producing reports (i.e production, QA/QC, daily KPI reports and weekly reports) to communicate plant performance clearly.
•Applying process control systems to improve process plant performance.
•Interacting with multi-discipline teams (i.e maintenance, commercial and mining) to achieve the required plant performance.
•Monitoring and analysing key metallurgical performance indicators of process operations and implementing corrective measures.
•Processing and conducting quality control of crushing, milling and flotation metallurgical parameters to achieve set recovery and key performance measures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Minerals Processing Engineering/Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering
•Minimum of four (4) years mining experience in a Concentrator or Processing Plant of which 2 years should have been at Metallurgist level.
•Base metal processing experience in a concentrator plant will be beneficial.
•Strong metallurgical and data analysis background
•Hands on experience and knowledge in metallurgical accounting and laboratory operations and analytical techniques
•Experience in and implementation of process control systems.
•Analytical and statistical skills are needed to evaluate opportunities for process improvement or optimisation, process or quality trends; and
•Understanding of SHEC policies and procedures.
•Experience in performing in inter disciplinary teams.
•Professional Engineer Membership (Registration with the Engineering Registration Board) is required.
