The Botswana Defence Force is looking forward to employing suitably qualified Non-Uniformed Personnel for the following positions:
6. MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN/ASSISTANT MEDICAL SCIENTIFIC OFFICER C4/3 X3 – TENABLE AT SSKB, 2 BRIGADE GROUP AND EASTERN MILITARY GARRISON
Qualifications: Experience: Salary scale: Leave: Certification: Benefits:
Diploma/Degree in Medical Laboratory Science from an accredited Institution Direct Entry. No experience required
C4/3 (P98,352– P136,812)
25 working days per annum
Must be registered with Botswana Health Professions Council
Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% while Employee pays 50%)
Contributory Pension Scheme (Government pays 15% while Employee pays 5%)
Housing and Upkeep Allowance of P366.70 per month for C4 salary scale and P309.00 per month for C3 salary scale
Scarce Skill Allowance of 40% of basic monthly salary
Job purpose: To provide specialized medical laboratory services as well as participate in research and disease surveillance. Job Duties and Responsibilities
a. Perform laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigation.
b. Perform laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigation.
ii. Participate in specimen collection, handling and transportation.
c. Monitor patient’s orders and ensures strict compliance with policies and procedures. d. Participate in internal audits on laboratory quality systems.
e. Capture consumption data on bin cards for inventory control.
f. Maintain patient confidence by keeping laboratory information confidential.
g. Carry out maintenance and performance checks on equipment and report any faults.
