Job Description
The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning, supervising, and executing mechanical maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and availability of production equipment used in wiring harness manufacturing. The role focuses on minimizing downtime, improving machine efficiency, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily mechanical maintenance activities for production and auxiliary equipment.
- Plan and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to reduce breakdowns and downtime.
- Diagnose mechanical faults, coordinate repairs, and ensure timely restoration of equipment.
- Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Supervise, coach, and allocate tasks, conduct on-the-job training and skills development, and monitor attendance, performance, and discipline within the maintenance team.
- Safety, Quality & Compliance and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, including lock-out/tag-out procedures, proper use of PPE and safe working practices.
- Support quality requirements related to wiring harness production standards.
- Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Prepare maintenance reports on downtime, breakdowns, and corrective actions.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (TPM, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing).
- Support installation, commissioning, and modification of new production equipment.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and industrial machinery.
- Experience with crimping, cutting, stripping, and harness assembly machines.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and manuals.
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is an advantage.
- Relevant manufacturing/maintenance certificate/diploma is preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment, preferably in wiring harness or automotive component manufacturing.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is essential.
