Mechanical Design Draughts person – UV Botswana
Job Description
The role of the Mechanical Design Draughtsperson is to produce outline drawings & layouts for end customer. Also, to produce component & full equipment detailed drawings, layouts and procedures to enable manufacturing. Interpret customer requirements and technical specifications.
Key Job Outputs
- Create drawings and models in 3D (Inventor) across the company range of products.
- Work to set schedules for completion of models and drawings.
- Complete final design of equipment & issue mechanical drawings for approval, along with component / assembly / manufacturing drawings.
- Produce Manufacturing Instructions (MI’s) & all drawings for procurement of Contract Specific equipment.
- Read and comprehend specifications for contract specific orders and apply to the product.
- Keep contract / job files up to date with any drawing changes
- Liaise with other company internal departments – to ensure accuracy and delivery of projects to specification.
- Assist in technical questions / request for drawings and mechanical detail.
Competency/skills
- High level of AutoCAD & Inventor skills
- Proven experience in 3D/2D modelling and shop detailing of mechanical designs
- Ability to interpret technical documents such as data sheets and manuals
- Mechanical engineering background
- High attention to detail/quality standards
- Solid grasp of mechanical principals
- Experience in the manufacturing industry is preferable
- Working as a good team player with excellent communication skills
- The ability to work autonomously and achieve agreed outcomes.
- The ability to multi-task and problem solve.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Required learning
- National Diploma 4 – 6 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Draughting
- minimum 5 years Mechanical Draughting experience
- AutoCAD experience essential
- Inventor 3D experience essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Mechanical engineering background
- High attention to detail/quality standards
- Solid grasp of mechanical principal
- Experience in the manufacturing industry is preferable
