Overview
AECI Botswana (Pty) Ltd, a leading explosives and specialty chemicals company, is seeking two experienced Magazine Masters to oversee and manage explosive magazines at the Jwaneng Debswana Mine. This role is key in ensuring full compliance with explosive handling regulations and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
-Act as the legal Appointee for the explosives magazine area.
-Ensure full compliance with the Explosives Act and CAP 24.02 regulations.
-Receive, issue, and record all explosives in the magazine.
-Maintain and update magazine registers and systems.
-Ensure secure storage and control of all explosives.
-Inspect magazines regularly and ensure high housekeeping standards.
-Supervise PPE stock and ensure all equipment is accounted for.
-Liaise with site personnel and supervisors regarding explosive issues.
-Coordinate blasting plans and ensure explosives are used efficiently and safely.
-Enforce company policies and site procedures, especially at Khonomaetsile Site.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills Requirements
-At least a Cambridge ‘O’ Level / BGCSE or equivalent.
-Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar or supervisory role.
-Must hold a valid Driver’s Licence.
-Must possess a valid Open Pit Underground Blasting Licence.
-Must be a Botswana citizen.
-Fluent in Setswana and English.
-Good understanding of the Explosives Act and mining-related legislation.
-Knowledge of AECI products is an added advantage.
-Experience in open pit blasting preferred.
