IP Engineer

To conceptualize, design and execute all IP activities related to Orange Botswana’s IP Network.

The main duties include but are not limited to:

• Ensures proposed IP strategy roadmap and milestones are followed up and executed meticulously to support business strategy.
• Ensures appropriate capacity dimensioning on the IP Networks, overseeing the planning, deployment, and optimization of IP networks.
• Support in the operation and maintenance of IP networks for efficient network performance.
• Studies and proposes End to End solutions on IP network.
• Draft and propose high/Low level designs for the IP network.
• Work with the engineering and IT teams to manage the end-to-end think, build and run activities on the different IP domains.
• Manage IP projects within the IP domains to ensure excellent executions and delivery within agreed timelines and on budget.
• Optimise the existing IP networks using existing equipment or where necessary new equipment to build a robust and resilient IP network.
• Build documentation and processes on IP Network.
• Management of IP equipment obsolescence and evolution.
• CAPEX and OPEX management of IP systems.
• Manage the IP addresses and the evolution to IPv6 for IP domains

Skills:

• Excellent understanding of IP equipment and Platforms.
• Excellent understanding of IP and routing protocols.
• Ability to learn and understand Business requests.
• Very good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Clients and result oriented.
• Ability to work under pressure and under minimal supervision.
• Creative approach

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree in Computer Engineering /Telecommunications / Computer Science.
• A Masters Degree would be an added advantage.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a telecommunications environment.
