Main purpose of the position

To plan, organize, coordinate, and manage the Corporation’s data and artificial intelligence (AI) function to ensure the integration and implementation of artificial intelligence technologies, data management and business intelligence strategies to enhance business operations, improve decision-making, and drive innovation across the Corporation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements comprehensive artificial and business intelligence (AI and BI) strategies aligned with the Corporation’s goals and objectives.
  • Develops policies, procedures and standards and frameworks regulating the key aspects for which AI and BI can benefit the Corporation ensure proper deployment and monitoring. Manages AI and BI projects to ensure that they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Continuously identifies opportunities for AI applications to improve business processes and outcomes.
  • Establishes and maintains data governance frameworks and policies to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security.
  • Oversees data architecture design and data modelling to support BI and analytics needs.
  • Manages data integration from various sources, ensuring data quality and integrity across the organization.
  • Develops and maintains data analytics and BI tools and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Uses AI and advanced analytics to generate actionable insights and recommendations for business improvement.
  • Presents findings and insights to senior management and other stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Leads the development and implementation of advanced analytics solutions to uncover insights and trends.
  • Collaborates with business units to understand their data needs and deliver relevant reports and dashboards.
  • Utilizes data visualization tools to present complex data in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Stays updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in BI and automation.
  • Identifies and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of BI and automation functions.
  • Uses data analytics to drive continuous improvement in operational processes and decision-making.
  • Delivers outcomes by managing others and working within established systems.
  • Supports others by carrying out simple safety, health and environment tasks using
  • established procedures.
  • Implements team’s performance management systems with guidance from management in line with the PMS policy and procedures.
  • Identifies shortcomings, suggests and implements improvements to existing business practices, while developing and delivering projects or a work stream within the organization’s change management program with guidance from management.
  • Identifies shortcomings, suggests improvements, and implements approved revisions to current compliance processes, systems, and procedures within assigned unit and/or discipline.
  • Manages relationships with key customers and acts as their business partner, while typically using support teams to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Delivers a prescribed budget for own area of the organization and/or conducts complex analyses on budget progress in other areas while working within established systems.
  • Evaluates the needs of the unit, formulates and presents business cases for motivating the acquisition of ICT equipment & systems.
  • Manages and delivers required outcomes for a portfolio of contracts and negotiates service level agreements while planning, coordinating and supervising activities related to major contracts.
  • Executes communication plan by working within established communication systems and procedures.
  • Manages and delivers required outcomes for a portfolio of projects while reporting to management.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Business Intelligence, or any related field.
  • A Master’s Degree in the Data Science or Artificial Intelligence or Business Intelligence disciplines will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • At least seven (7) years post qualification experience in artificial intelligence, data management, and analytics in a large corporate environment.
  • Of the above, at least three (3) years should have been served at a management level.
  • Extensive experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning frameworks, business intelligence tools, and data management platforms is required.
  • Relevant certifications in artificial intelligence, data management, or analytics will be an added advantage.
  • Experience working in the energy, utilities or similar sector will be an added advantage.
