Job Description

The Botswana Public Officers’ Medical Aid Scheme (BPOMAS) is the country’s largest Medical Aid Scheme which provides its members with comprehensive medical aid cover and complementary value-adding benefits. BPOMAS is looking to fill the following positions.

JOB TITLE: INDEPENDENT RISK CONSULTANT
Location BPOMAS Office, Gaborone

We are looking to hire an independent Risk Consultant, for a period of three 13) years, with expertise in enterprise risk management (ERM), compliance and governance. The incumbent should have over 8 years’ experience in the industry to support the strategy of BPOMAS and its subsidiary BPOMAS Property Holdings (BPH) I’The Group”). The role will be reporting to the Legal Counsel and Corporate Secretary.

PURPOSE OF JOB:

⦁ Review and implement the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and assist with monitoring the effectiveness of internal controls
⦁ Review and provide expert insight on the Group’s Enterprise Risk Management Strategy.
⦁ Review and develop, appropriate policies, procedures, and operating standards.
⦁ Implement risk and regulatory compliance activities in support of the mandate of the business.
⦁ Review and implement the AML/CFT compliance programmes and procedures; provide monitoring tools to ensure compliance with statutory requirements that include those relating to AML, Countering Financing of Terrorism, and Proliferation in line with the Financial Intelligence Act and any other relevant legislation.
⦁ Develop appropriate quality control and assurance methodologies to cover organization policies, processes, and procedures in line with best practices.
⦁ Provide risk identification methods appropriate to the business that provide for early detection, escalation, and mitigation.
⦁ Develop and implement conformance reviews across the business; ensure the Group complies with applicable laws, regulations, standards policies, and contracts.
⦁ Update, monitor, and maintain a risk register in conformance with best practices.
⦁ Provide regular risk analysis reports to the Group governing structures. Executive.
⦁ Attend meetings as and when required to provide updates on the risk universe of the Group.

Qualifications:

⦁ Bachelor’s Degree in Risk and Compliance or equivalent/relevant professional qualification.
⦁ Professional accreditation would be an added advantage
⦁ AML/CFT knowledge would be an added advantage.

Experience:

⦁ Consultancy experience with demonstrable ability in enterprise risk management and knowledge, with a proven track record from prior similar work delivered.

⦁ Knowledge and implementation of risk-based approaches, methodologies, instruments and ability to develop appropriate interventions best suited for the Group.
