Choppies Distribution Centre (Pty) Limited is looking for the following professional;
1. HOT FOOD AND CONVENIENCE FOOD SPECIALIST
As the employer of choice and a supermarket chain that is focused on expanding its presence in Sub- Saharan Africa, we strive to be a premium service provider of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and international food brands.
We are looking for a dynamic, competent and experienced Head of Department to manage and give strategic direction to the Group’s hot meal and convenience food categories. To this end the incumbent will play a leading role in product and range development and must ensure that these categories grow exponentially throughout all its outlets.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on operation-minded person who thoroughly understands the dynamics of a supermarket environment. The incumbent will play a leading role in the development of staff. He or she must be profit, product range and sales driven and be a cost-conscious individual.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Managing the departments profitably, whilst driving and meeting critical sales, gross profit, cost savings and stockholding objectives.
• Developing appropriate product ranges aimed at satisfying the needs of the Brand’s customer base.
• Standardizing recipes.
• Ensuring appropriate and accurate product costings.
• Handling customer complaints in an appropriate and expedient manner.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in hot food and convenience food management in the supermarket environment.
• Formal sales training at a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
• Formal training in the Catering and/or Hospitality industry will serve as an added advantage.
• Computer knowledge and literacy required.
