Description
The geophysical operator is responsible for all aspects of the collection of surface and downhole EM data, including data collection, logistics, equipment maintenance and security. The survey consists of using a surface loop, a transmitter powered by a generator and taking measurements using an electronic receiver. Locational data using a DGPS equipment is also recorded.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Relay with Geophysicist for survey parameters and acquire survey data, monitoring data for quality checks
- Transfer of the data from the receiver to a computer and email for processing
- Providing a daily summary report on survey parameters, and logistics of the day
- Ensure security is arranged to guard the EM Loop wire overnight.
- Organize and monitor the cutting of new loops through local vegetation.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed
- Ensure the security of the survey equipment
- Report any irregularities to the Senior Geologist
- Planning the survey day and ensuring the members of the survey crew knows their duties
- Ensuring the equipment is in good working order
- Ensure there is sufficient fuel, oil, supplies to complete the job
- Ensure that DGPS data has been collected and processed
Qualifications, Experience and Competencies:
- Degree in Geophysics or equivalent
- A minimum of 1 year experience. Experience working with DGPS and geophysical surveys is an asset.
- Ability to organize, schedule and supervise a crew
- Ability to maintain electronic equipment and gas powered generators
- Excellent computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new software including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s License, at least 2 years
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with various individuals, crews, departments and organizational levels.
- Result-oriented, flexible and capable of working independently and as part of a team, with the aim of contributing to the company’s development
- Ability to demonstrate PNRB values and core competencies
