General Manager: Botswana
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Reporting directly to the Managing Director Southern Africa Region, the General Manager is responsible for developing and driving the strategy, key projects, financial viability of the business, through the entire value chain of the organization (including internal and external relations); and have the ability to drive and grow resources in order to achieve the short and long-term business operation goals underpinned by strong process and systems experience.
Key Outputs and Accountabilities
- Shape the Country Strategy and Business Planning
- As a member of the senior team, provide input to the MD. in the development of the CCBA business strategy and business plan.
- Provide input to the MD with regards to strategic choices about local growth levers and associated resource allocation.
- Ensure key local insights and country-focused / relevant market trends are provided to the relevant Leadership Team members, leveraging the knowledge that internal specialists will have of the local market.
- Lead the local business and deliver on performance objectives
- Lead the development of the country strategy and business plan, guided by the strategy, growth levers, strategic goals and policy of CCBA. and direction provided by the MD.
- Deliver profit and performance in line with expectations.
- Challenge the local Leadership Team to deliver on stretch targets and support the local leadership team in making the right strategic and operational choices in and across their functions.
- Monitor performance and identify issues early, ensuring improvement plans are put in place to address areas of under- performance.
- Agree strategic initiatives and manage resource allocation across priority areas, also ensuring appropriate specialist support from CCBA HQ teams.
- Ensure that the operation complies with and operates within the CCBA policies, processes and standards.
- Ensures engagement and accountability to the shareholder by upholding corporate governance.

- Respect, promote and entrench the CCBA values and desired culture within the local operation, in the context of a cultural integration journey.
- Create a forward thinking, innovative and continuous improvement-focused environment leading to high performance and high engagement.
- Hold leaders accountable for the CCBA leadership behaviours/ values and ensure appropriate positive and negative consequence management.
- Judgement & Decision Making
Shape, balance and make appropriate trade-offs on the short-, medium- and long-term strategy and business plan for the business. including critical elements related to:
- Superior commercial execution across a sophisticated portfolio of of key brands, channels, packs, regions and service offerings
- Ensure Revenue Management/OBPPC strategies and capabilities to support superior commercial execution
- Enable an efficient and effective Supply Chain that can release resources for reinvestment in line with value targets
- Build superior key account management capability
- Lead and deliver an enhanced Route to Market Strategy to beat the competition.
Education:
Academic background: Relevant University / Bachelor’s degree and ideally an MBA / equivalent.
Experience:
Approximately 10-15 years of relevant corporate leadership experience.
- At least 5 years at Director level, preferably within a bottler.
- Strong track record of delivering results over time, displaying comfort with ambiguity and complicated trade-off’s
- Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements; able to comprehend and comment on general macro-economics
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources management, leadership of change and business fransformation. coordination of people and resources, etc.
