The University is looking for a qualified and experienced individual for the below stated position. The successful candidate will be appointed on a fixed term contract of up to five (5) years.
The position is based at BIUST Campus, Palapye.
FULL PROFESSOR IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL, MATERIALS AND METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING
Main Purpose of the Jobs
To teach and educate undergraduate and graduate students in an academic discipline and to build the knowledge base of the discipline through research and publication.
To administer teaching and research activities within the discipline. To provide academic leadership through curriculum development, mentoring, attracting research grants and leading research units, groups and centres.
Qualifications
- A PhD in Chemical and Process Engineering. Registration with a recognized professional engineering body is required.
Experience

Experience
- A minimum of ten (10) years post-doctoral experience in teaching and research in any of the following fields, Process Control, Process Modelling and Simulation, Process Synthesis and Biochemical Engineering.
- An excellent record of international publications with at least 30 publications in reputable refereed journals commensurate with appointment to the rank of Professor.
- Experience in the successful supervision of postgraduate students.
- Proven record of attracting international and national research grants.
Competencies:
- In-depth understanding of own specialization to enable the development of new knowledge, innovation and understanding within the field
- Ability to prepare and submit proposals and applications to external bodies e.g., for funding and accreditation purposes.
- Understanding of academic management structures and their functioning
- Excellent knowledge of the international academic discipline environment
- Involvement in professional activities where applicable
- Ability to disseminate conceptual and complex ideas to a wide variety of audiences using appropriate media and methods to promote understanding
- Ability to supervise projects and graduate students
