First Aid Instructor – Morupule Coal Mine

Job Summary:

Adheres to quality assurance/governance protocol/principles in area of responsibility.

Key Activities:

  • Recommends and incorporate cost saving initiatives into budget and operates within approved parameters.
  • Plans, schedules, and notifies all nominees, supervisors and line managers of the first aid training date and venues.
  • Conducts all levels of first aid training which include but limited to practical, general, advanced first aid, silver and gold medal to employees, contractors and other business partners for Morupule Coal Mine.
  • Maintains data base for trained personnel and sessions held for ease of traceability in line with company and legal requirements.
  • Schedules and carries out basic life support training for the health care providers and health services employees.
  • Manages and coaches the Morupule Coal Mine first aid teams entering for the interdepartmental and inter-mine competitions.
  • Assists the medical practitioners in setting up and conducting first aid examinations and prepares forms for certificates in liaison with the Botswana Red Cross Society.
  • Arranges the annual interdepartmental competitions and the inter-mine first aid competition as per laid down protocols and business requirements.
  • Carries out scheduled/regular and spot checks on ambulances, other medical and first aid equipment to ensure compliance to set standards.
  • Orders all first aid equipment and maintains stock levels at set parameters.
  • Identifies and implements creative and innovative ideas in order to improve the Mini Business Unit performance.
  • Maintains effective relationships clients/partners/customers to ensure achievement of Mini Business Unit objectives.
  • Takes responsibility for providing excellent services by developing self, applying skills, knowledge, and experiences to improve and measure their own performance against set standards.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Diploma in general nursing/Advanced Life Support or equivalent.
  • 3 years’ experience as First Aid Instructor in in a mining or industrial environment.
