Job Description

Reporting to:            Regional     Financial Director and School’s Executive Principal

Qualifications:          B.    Comm/ B.Acc / Honors / Post Graduate in Finance

Experience:             Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Finance and 1 to 2 years in management level.

Duties required:

  • Budget preparation, controlling of school expenditure and other aspects of financial management;
  • Various Administrative tasks;
  • Writing up the Cash Book and General Ledger input and associated reconciliations;
  • Responsible for the daily banking;
  • Responsible for the Creditors and Debtors and associated re-cons;
  • Controlling of all purchases;
  • Liaison with the staff and parents;
  • Maintaining Fixed asset Registers;
  • Monthly management accounts: actuals vs budgets;
  • Management of financial staff.
  • Management of debtors
  • Responsible for the external and internal auditors
  • Preparation of audit file
  • Preparation of monthly GL Recons
  • Preparation of weekly cashflows
  • Preparation of weekly FLASH
  • Controlling and management of journals
  • Preparation and submission of statutory returns (PAYE)
  • Billing of all students and reconciliation of term billing to STASY/Ed admin
  • Preparation of CAPEX for approval

Competencies/Skills Requirements:

  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and IFRS
  • Sound knowledge of King IV
  • Proven people management skills
  • Proficient with Sage Evolution or similar accounting package
  • Advanced understanding of Financial Accounting
  • Advanced understanding of Management Accounting
  • Sound knowledge of Audit principles
  • Sound knowledge of Botswana Tax Legislation
  • Extremely numerate with excellent financial acumen;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines/deadline driven;
