We are seeking an accomplished and commercially astute finance leader to head our Finance function in Gaborone. This is a strategic leadership opportunity for a results-driven professional who combines strong technical expertise with sound commercial judgement and the ability to partner with business leaders to drive operational performance, financial discipline, and sustainable growth. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of financial management, accounting, reporting, treasury, statutory compliance, planning, and business performance.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Provide strategic financial leadership and business partnering to support operational performance, commercial decision-making, and the achievement of business objectives.
  • Financial Control & Governance: Lead the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate accounting, effective risk management, and compliance with company policies, IFRS, and local statutory requirements.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely financial and management reports for local statutory purposes and Group reporting.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead the budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and performance analysis processes, providing insights and recommendations to enhance business performance.
  • Treasury & Cash Management: Oversee treasury operations, cash flow, liquidity management, banking relationships, and foreign exchange activities in collaboration with the Group Treasury function.
  • Manufacturing Finance & Inventory Control: Provide financial oversight of manufacturing operations, including inventory governance, work-in-progress valuation, cost management, and physical inventory controls.
  • Tax, Statutory & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all tax, payroll, statutory reporting, AML, and industry-specific regulatory requirements, including the Diamond Cutting Act, the Precious and Semi-Precious Stones Act, and the Kimberley Process.
  • Capital Investment & Performance Improvement: Evaluate capital investment proposals, monitor financial returns, develop key performance indicators, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational and financial performance.
  • People Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop the Finance team, fostering a high-performance culture through effective performance management, capability development, and succession planning.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) registered with BICA or an equivalent internationally recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA) is required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ progressive finance leadership experience within an international business environment, preferably in manufacturing, diamond processing, or a multinational organisation, of which at least five (5) years must have been at management level. Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management and business partnering skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across geographically dispersed international teams is essential.
