 In its pursuit to become a Competitive Commercial Power Utility within the Region, Botswana Power Corporation invites applications from suitably qualified, highly energetic, dynamic, result oriented, innovative, and customer focused individuals, who believe they can be part of a great team that delivers power to Botswana to apply for the below listed position not later than 23 April 2023.

Main purpose of the position

To prepare estimates, carry out inspections, installations, system operations and maintenance in order to ensure network availability, quality of supply, operational safety and efficient customer supply service delivery in the area of responsibility.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assess work to be carried out and organises necessary tools and equipments and allocates and supervises work accordingly.
  • Checks consumer installation wiring to ensure that it complies with statutory and BPC regulations.
  • Attends to system faults, disturbances and customer supply disruption issues to ensure timeous restoration of supply.
  • Carries out inspection of Distribution network field equipment for input into Maintenance schedule.
  • Carries out maintenance on Distribution network and equipment in accordance with approved maintenance schedule to ensure availability of plant
  • Prepares system-switching programs for approval and carries out network switching for isolation and restoration of power supply.
  • Reconnects and disconnects customers following a works order from revenue.
  • Ensures accurate completion of customer/supplier agreement form and ensures that details of records of new customers are passed onto the revenue/commercial department for billing purposes.
  • Offers technical support to vending station operators to address consumer’ queries.
  • Assembles, installs, wires, calibrates and tests Distribution equipment to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
  • Collects field data on Distribution equipment for availability of information for planning and operations.
  • Prepares customer connection estimates in line with set standards and guidelines
  • Promotes safety awareness in line with SHE requirements through periodic audits

Qualifications

  • Recognised National Craft Certificate in Electrical or equivalent.
  • Class B Driver’s License is required
  • Must obtain Senior Authorisation within Six (6) months (Internal) and twelve (12) months (External)
