 In its pursuit to become a Competitive Commercial Power Utility within the Region, Botswana Power Corporation invites applications from suitably qualified, highly energetic, dynamic, result oriented, innovative, and customer focused individuals, who believe they can be part of a great team that delivers power to Botswana to apply for the below listed position not later than 11th June 2023.

Main purpose of the position

To install, repair, commission and maintain all power station electrical equipment (up to Generator Transformers), efficiently and effectively in accordance with set maintenance and safety standards to ensure optimal plant availability.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of standard tests such as Insulation & Winding Resistance, Voltage Tests in accordance with set standard procedures to ensure safe and sustainable operation of plant equipment.
  • Collect data on an approved format to be analysed by oneself or others to make an informed maintenance decision.
  • Operate within current compliance processes, systems and procedures and reports shortcomings to immediate supervisors to ensure efficient plant operation.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks by following established procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Implement improvements and carries out change management tasks by following established procedures to optimize plant performance.
  • Perform standard installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair activities with minimum supervision,   following   set maintenance standards, specifications and safety requirements to ensure optimal plant availability and reliability.
  • Operate various machines and equipment (such as bearing pullers, hoists, skyjack,power machines etc)used in maintenance works in accordance with set procedures to sustain plant availability and reliability.
  • Produce test and commissioning reports of equipment after maintenance following  set standards and procedures in order to give assurance of good quality.
  • Operate in accordance with policies and procedures, while performing routine safety checks on equipment and workspace to achieve SHER Objectives.

Qualifications

  • A recognized National Craft Certificate (NCC) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • A valid Class B Driver’s license.
