ELECTRICAL & INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN (X1)

 In its pursuit to become a Competitive Commercial Power Utility within the Region, Botswana Power Corporation invites applications from suitably qualified, highly energetic, dynamic, result oriented, innovative, and customer focused individuals, who believe they can be part of a great team that delivers power to Botswana to apply for the below listed position not later than 02 December 2022.

Main purpose of the position

To supervise, monitor and provide technical support on   installation, maintenance, repair and commissioning of electrical equipment in accordance with the set standards and safety procedures to ensure optimal plant availability and reliability.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collate and analyse data using pre-determined tools, methods and formats to prepare reports on maintenance performance of equipment and activities to facilitate informed decision making
  • Compile and documents on recurring faults, defects and repairs to ensure systematic maintenance of the electrical equipment for optimal plant performance.
  • Provides preliminary data for Root Cause Analysis to facilitate informed decision making.
  • Supervise and provide technical support on installation, maintenance and repair works, conduct all commissioning of electrical systems and equipment to improve plant reliability & availability.
  • Liaise and monitors contracted works to ensure conformity to BPC standards and specifications
  • Conduct spot inspection checks and monitors operating status to ensure   electrical equipment is operating within specifications.
  • Complies with set quality standards to achieve the desired functionality & Efficiency to optimise plant performance and improve availability
  • Identify shortcomings and risks in existing processes, systems and procedures, then uses established change management programs to optimize delivery of prescribed outcomes and/or provide support services.
  • Carries out on-the-job training and skill gap analysis  in maintenance procedures and fault diagnosis methods to increase the flexibility and capability of the team.
  • Operate in accordance with policies and procedures, while performing routine safety checks on equipment and workspace to achieve SHER Objectives

Qualifications

  • A Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • A valid Class B Driver’s license

Experience

  • At least two (2) years post qualification in electrical and instrumentation maintenance.
  • Experience working in a power plant environment would be an added advantage.
