Purpose of the Role
To provide strategic guidance and Very Visible Leadership in the entire education section at Debswana schools.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Analyses the divisional area’s financial needs to develop a budget and ensures sufficient financial resources to meet business needs
- Manages and controls allocated funds and operates within approved parameters, for the whole of education.
- Develops relevant Debswana School Policies for approval by Management and implementation thereof.
- Advises trends in the education arena and assesses their impact on the Debswana education strategy. Develops appropriate interventions to ensure continuous improvement.
- Devices and manages set standards of education and teaching for schools, taking cognizance of legislative requirements and international best practice
- Manages the implementation of the Education section’s various programs
- Sets and ensures that standards of education and teaching are achieved and where necessary revised by monitoring and evaluating performance of each school and advising head teachers accordingly
- Interprets, develops and manages the implementation of the Education’s strategy to meet business needs.
- Establishes and maintains sound working relationships with co-workers and members to resolve problems
- Initiates, monitors and controls short and long term Sectional projects to ensure attainment of desired results
- Manages and coordinates the implementation of safety, health and environmental programme in area of responsibility
- Identifies, coordinates and manages the implementation of and adherence to legal and corporate governance principles/requirements in area of responsibility
- Develops a career, developmental and support platform to facilitate the progression of subordinates to a level of optimal value addition and to foster successful and professional community of employees
- Develops and executes sound personnel procedures and practices for initial employment, promotions, assignments and transfers
- Appraises performance of Head Teachers
- Implements knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain institutional performance
- Identifies and implements creative and innovative ideas to continuously improve and sustain business performance.
- Estabilishes and maintains effective relationships with all key stakeholders and partners to ensure achievement of business objectives
- Develops and promotes the image of the schools with due consideration to stakeholder expectations
- Ensures professional staff conduct and discipline
- Design and ensure effective talent management and succession planning
- Establish and maintain a conducive climate within education

Education
- Degree in primary education or equivalent
Experience
Five years as a primary school head teacher or equivalent
